Arsenal look poised to appoint Luis Enrique as their new manager, according to reports

Arsenal are set to appoint former FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique as their new manager for next season, according to reports in the British media.

It was reported that the Gunners are set to make a move to appoint the 47-year-old as their new boss as they look for a successor for Arsene Wenger at The Emirates.

Wenger announced on Friday that he would be stepping down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season to bring an end to his 22-year spell at the north London club.

The search now begins for Wenger’s successor, and the same report says that Enrique is the leading candidate for the Gunners.

The same story says that only a “glitch” in negotiations would prevent Enrique from being appointed as Arsenal manager for next season, and that talks between the two parties are “well advanced”.

According to the same report, Arsenal chiefs have honed in on Enrique as their top target after seeing how well Pep Guardiola’s appointment at Manchester City has worked out.

Enrique has been out of a job since leaving as FC Barcelona boss last year, and he is said to have already held meetings with the Gunners.
